My name is Karlijn Stenvers, I am 23 years old. My country of origin is the Netherlands. Other places where I have lived are actually only Pondicherry, India- that is if you call staying there for four months straight ‘living there’. Right now, I am living in Gothenburg, Sweden, specifically in the area of Högsbo. I speak English and Dutch, as well as the bare minimum of German and French (let’s stress the word ‘bare’ here). My work background is still relatively underdeveloped. I’ve worked at restaurants and did a full time position within the board of a student association in Maastricht last year. My journalistic experience is still limited to my studies, I’ve had a few courses in specific journalistic methods and wrote a ton of papers, but that’s about it. My data skills are of academic level, up to what I’ve been forced to learn during my bachelor. I have used Excel at a very low level. In terms of audio, video, editing and publishing skills, I have had a few projects at university, such as the conveying of a story through photography, but none were actual visual/audio news reports. I’d say that my specific interest which made me go for this subject, is my love for writing and desire to make use of that skill at matters that actually matter, to try and occupy a function that adds to society. I would love to do research, as well as write, on environmental issues, political issues, social… Etc. Other skills or hobbies are drawing, music, some stick and poke tattooing, being outside. Mostly just about anything that involves other people as well! I think I will be able to support my fellow students with my ability to think creatively and be passionate about the topics we’re going to have to work on together, as well as my extended background in academic writing and research.
