Choose the color code 2cfa1f for the line color as it represents “Radioactive Green”. Also it works well with all the versions of colorblind in both light and dark mode. Made the image 600×400 in datawrapper but it doesn’t come out that way on the blog. Didn’t add year as I assume that the readers are capable enough to understand without that label. My note “in 2021, ten new reactors began construction” was based on the assumption that the article is about new plant construction.

Choose my colors from a "Nuclear Color Palette" site here. Also it works well with all the versions of colorblind in both light and dark mode. Made the image 600x600 in datawrapper because it showed the scale nicely without being too tall. I wrote about the French capacity being much higher in the description as it seemed like the most interesting point of the data.

Comparison

  • Smartphone: How do the charts from the different tools appear on your smartphone? Are there any problems?
    • Infogram looks the worst on smartphones and has an annoying "made by infogram" watermark. Datawrapper looks the best and Flourish maps are pretty good but the charts are distorted.
  • Colours: How easy/difficult is it to change colours with the different tools?
    • Datawrapper is by far the easiest while Flourish is the hardest
  • Text/labels: How easy/difficult is it to work with text/labels in the different tools?
    • Datawrapper is the best, flourish is the most difficult, infogram in the middle
  • Flexibility: How flexible are the tools? Can you make the changes you want to do?
    • It seems like Flourish is the most flexible but I'm not skilled enough to understand how to make the most use of it.
  •  Accessibility: Which different options for accessibility do the tools have?
    • Datawrapper has really nice and easy to use accesibility options.
